PUTRAJAYA (May 14): The children of single mother Loh Siew Hong, who has been embroiled in a legal battle over her three minor children’s religious status with the Perlis religious authorities, remain non-Muslims.

This follows the Federal Court’s decision on Tuesday, which quashed the Perlis Islamic Religious and Malay Customs Council’s (MAIPs) bid to challenge the Court of Appeal’s (COA) decision earlier this year, which ruled that the unilateral conversion of her three minor children was unconstitutional.

In a unanimous decision, a three-member panel, led by Chief Justice Tun Tengku Maimun Tuan Mat, dismissed MAIPs’, Perlis Registrar of Mualaf, state mufti Datuk Dr Mohd Asri Zainul Abidin and the state government’s leave application to appeal on the grounds that their application has already been decided and there was no need for the apex court to ventilate the matter further.
